Canada has reported its first human case of H5 avian flu in a teenager in British Columbia. The individual is currently receiving treatment in a children's hospital. The source of the contagion and possible contacts are being investigated. It is believed that the teenager probably came into contact with the virus from a bird or animal. As of now, there is no evidence of sustained human-to-human transmission of the virus. The situation is being closely monitored to prevent further spread of the disease.
