The dating app industry has witnessed a significant shift in user preferences, with many users opting for friendship over romance. Bumble, one of the leading dating apps, has reported a decline in its monthly active users, with a drop of 8% to 21 million. This trend is also reflected in Tinder, which has seen a 16% decline in its monthly active users, down to 53 million. In an attempt to adapt to this change, Bumble has launched a friendship-focused app called Bumble For Friends, which has gained 730,000 monthly active users since its launch in July last year. The decline in user base has also led to a decrease in Match Group's overall valuation, with a drop of $40 billion over the last three years. This shift in user preferences highlights the evolving nature of the dating app industry, with users seeking more than just romantic connections.
