SpaceX successfully launched 23 Starlink satellites into space from Florida, marking the company's latest effort to expand its constellation of low-Earth orbit satellites. The launch took place at 4:35am EST (0935GMT) and was carried out using a Falcon 9 rocket. This mission is part of SpaceX's ongoing Starlink program, which aims to provide high-speed internet connectivity to remote and underserved areas around the world. The satellites, which include 12 with direct-to-smartphone capability, were deployed into their intended orbit, marking a significant milestone for the project. With this launch, the total number of Starlink satellites in orbit has surpassed 6,600. This launch is also notable as it marks the 13th flight for the particular Falcon 9 booster used, and the 115th Falcon 9 mission of 2024. The Starlink program has seen a significant increase in flights, with 70% of all Falcon 9 missions in 2024 dedicated to the project.
